What a Session with Us Looks Like

Our Sensory Social Sessions bring together movement, sensory play and social connection in a smaller, more relaxed group.

These 30 minute sessions have a maximum of six Giggle Buddies and focus on the playful parts of our regular sessions rather than learning dance routines. With quieter music, lower lighting and plenty of flexibility, everyone is supported to explore, participate and connect in a way that feels comfortable for them.

While every session may look a little different depending on who is in the room, the heart of what we do always stays the same: creating a welcoming space where Giggle Buddies and their families can move, play, build friendships and have fun together.

🌈 Our Sensory Social Session Choice

Friends in Motion

Friends in Motion is a playful, sensory-friendly social session focused on movement games, prop play and building connections in a smaller, more relaxed group.

It is a great option for Giggle Buddies who enjoy the games, music and social parts of our sessions but may find longer sessions or learning full routines overwhelming.

Giggle Buddies are welcome to join in actively, participate with support, take breaks or simply spend time alongside the group until they feel ready.

Our Session Flow

Each session follows a familiar structure to help everyone feel settled, supported and comfortable in the space.

🔥 Short Warm-Up

We begin with a simple and playful warm-up to get our bodies moving and help everyone ease into the session.

Movements are easy to follow and can be adapted, allowing each Giggle Buddy to participate in their own way.

🎀 Prop Play

We explore movement using sensory props such as:

  • Ribbons

  • Fans

  • Scarves

  • Shakers

  • Soft sensory items

Prop play encourages creativity, coordination and shared interaction without the pressure of following a routine.

Giggle Buddies may copy the instructor, create their own movements or explore the props in whatever way feels enjoyable and comfortable for them.

Tea Station Social Break

We take a short five-minute break where Giggle Buddies and their families can have a drink, enjoy a light snack and connect with others.

Our Tea Station offers a relaxed opportunity to recharge, chat and build friendships. Anyone needing a break before or after this time is also welcome to use the Tea Station throughout the session.

😊 Emotional Learning Game

We include a playful activity that supports Giggle Buddies to explore emotions, communication and self-expression.

Activities may involve emotion cards, facial expressions, colours, music or movement. We might explore questions such as:

  • What could happiness look like through movement?

  • How might our bodies move when we feel excited?

  • What helps us when we feel worried or overwhelmed?

  • How can different people express the same feeling differently?

There is no right or wrong way to participate. Every Giggle Buddy is encouraged to communicate and express themselves in the way that works best for them.

Movement Game

Our movement games encourage active play, imagination and interaction with others.

Activities may include:

  • Follow-the-leader games

  • Freeze movement games

  • Animal movements

  • Colour and action games

  • Partner or group activities

  • Taking turns choosing movements

  • Imaginative movement adventures

Games are adapted to suit the Giggle Buddies attending and may be made calmer or more energetic depending on what feels right for the group.

👋 Goodbye Song

We finish each session with our familiar goodbye song.

This brings everyone back together and creates a predictable, positive ending, helping Giggle Buddies understand that the session is finishing and prepare to transition home.

🌈 More Than Sensory Play

Friends in Motion is about more than playing games and moving to music. Each activity creates gentle opportunities to build confidence, develop social skills and feel part of a group.

💜 Confidence Building

Confidence is encouraged through small, achievable moments.

Giggle Buddies are supported to try new activities, make choices, share ideas and participate in a way that feels comfortable for them.

For one person, confidence may look like leading a movement. For another, it may mean entering the room, trying a new prop or joining an activity for a few seconds.

Every step is recognised and celebrated.

💬 Social Interaction

Social connection is at the heart of Friends in Motion.

Our smaller group size creates opportunities for Giggle Buddies to become familiar with one another, participate alongside others and begin building meaningful friendships.

Interaction is encouraged gently through shared games, turn-taking, prop play and group activities. There is never pressure to communicate or socialise in one particular way.

Whether someone joins a group activity, plays alongside another person or simply feels comfortable sharing the same space, their participation is valued.

🎭 Emotional Awareness

We use games, movement and play to gently explore different emotions.

Giggle Buddies are encouraged to recognise feelings, express themselves and notice that emotions can look different for everyone.

Activities may support participants to:

  • Recognise and name different emotions

  • Express feelings through movement or play

  • Notice facial expressions and body language

  • Learn that other people may express emotions differently

  • Explore ways to calm, reset or ask for support

There is no expectation to speak or answer verbally. Communication in all its forms is welcomed and respected.

🌟 Sensory Exploration

Sensory play gives Giggle Buddies opportunities to explore different movements, textures, sounds and visual experiences.

Participants can choose which activities and props feel comfortable for them. They are never required to touch, hold or use an item they do not enjoy.

Our quieter music, lower lighting and smaller group size help create a more relaxed environment while still keeping the joyful Wiggle & Giggle energy.

🌈 Self-Expression

Every Giggle Buddy is encouraged to move, play and express themselves in their own unique way.

They may copy a movement, create something completely new, communicate through gestures or simply watch before deciding whether to join in.

Individuality is celebrated, and there is no pressure to perform or complete an activity in one particular way.

🌱 Independence

We gently encourage independence by giving Giggle Buddies opportunities to make choices and take part in ways that feel achievable.

This may include:

  • Choosing a prop

  • Selecting a movement

  • Taking a turn

  • Deciding when to join an activity

  • Asking for or accepting support

  • Choosing when they need a break

  • Helping lead a game

Parents and carers remain close and involved, while each Giggle Buddy is encouraged to build confidence and independence at their own pace.

💬 A Space for Families to Connect

Friends in Motion is designed for Giggle Buddies and their families to enjoy together.

Parents and carers participate alongside their Giggle Buddy throughout the session, offering support, joining activities and sharing in the experience.

The smaller group and Tea Station break also provide opportunities for families to meet others, share experiences and build natural connections in a welcoming environment.

There is no pressure to interact in a particular way. Families are welcome to connect, play and participate in whatever way feels comfortable for them.

🧸 A Space to Feel Safe and Supported

We understand that everyone’s needs are different and that sometimes a break is needed.

Our Cozy Corner is available throughout the session for anyone who needs a quieter place to rest, regulate or watch before returning.

The space may include:

  • Soft play mats

  • Pillows and blankets

  • Soft toys

  • Noise-reducing headphones

  • Fidgets and sensory items

Headphones may also be worn while participating in activities.

There is no expectation to remain involved for the entire session. Giggle Buddies can move between activities, the Tea Station and Cozy Corner with support from their parent or carer.

💜 Our Approach

Our Sensory Social Sessions are built around creating a playful, welcoming and inclusive experience through:

  • Sensory exploration and prop play

  • Movement-based games

  • Emotional learning activities

  • Social interaction and friendship building

  • Smaller group sizes

  • Quieter music and lower lighting

  • Flexibility to meet each person where they are at

  • Parent and carer participation

  • Encouragement without pressure

There are no routines to memorise and no expectation to perform.

Everyone is supported to participate in a way that feels safe, enjoyable and comfortable for them.

Come As You Are

Whether you are ready to jump straight into a game, would rather explore a ribbon beside your parent or carer, or need time to watch and become familiar with the space, you are always welcome.

Come as you are, join in your own way and take things at your own pace.

At Wiggle & Giggle, everyone belongs 💜
